Charley Houston McGill Sr.

Reverend Charley McGill, Sr. age 77 is now standing on the top of Mount Zion.  Born November 19, 1945 to Fred and Mildred McGill, walked into Glory Tuesday, October 17, 2023 surrounded by earthly loved ones and met on the other side by Jesus, family and friends.  Preceded in death by father; Fred McGill, mother; Mildred McGill, brother; Freddie McGill, sister; Patti McGill, an angel great one.  Left behind to carry his message of God and love, loving wife of 58 years, Judy McGill, his baby girl Kimberly (Mitch) Winters, baby boy Charley (Wendi) McGill, Jr.; papa or popi to Julie (Michael) White, Popi’s boy Jacob Winters, Erin (Clint) Schrimpsher, Great-grands Kyden, Hutson, J.D., Brody, Ryland, and Nola; best friend Dennis Drinnon and wife Sue.  Cat Junior, and many nieces and nephews whom he adored.  Charley was of the Baptist faith previously pastor of American Baptist and Macedonia Baptist.  Most recently a member of Grove Heights Baptist where he supported Rev. Clyde Haynes for many years but had recently been unable to attend due to his 5 year battle with MDS.   His passion was serving families and witnessing to all he met.  He has been a blessing to many families and will be missed by many.  He will never walk through the valley again, Glory, Glory, Glory.  The family would like to thank Tennessee Cancer Specialist, Covenant Hospice and Covenant Hospitals.  The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 19, 2023 at Mynatt Funeral Fountain City Chapel followed by a 7:00 p.m. funeral service, Rev. J. R. McMahan and Dennis Drinnon officiating.   Family and friends will meet 10:45 a.m. Friday, October 20, 2023 at Sherwood Memorial Gardens for an 11:00 a.m. graveside service, Rev. Jamie Webber officiating.   Pallbearers; Kyden White, Jacob Winters, Clint Schrimpsher, Brody Schrimpsher, Michael White, Joey Janeway, Charley McGill, Jr., Johnny Hutchinson and Noah Janeway.  In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Lymphoma Leukemia Society https://pages/lls.org/ltn/tnk/entn23/NoahNation.
