Charles Lee Perciful Jr., age 73, of Knoxville passed away peacefully at home on February 20th, 2026.
Charles lived a life filled with love, music, and the people he held close. At the very center of his world was his wife Leana (or as he called her, Lee) who was the love of his life since he was sixteen. Everything Charles did began and ended with her. When Charles first saw Leana in 1968, he knew instantly. So much so that he pulled his car filled with his friends over to offer her a ride. Yes, he did kick those friends out of the car to make room for her. From that day forward, the rest was a love story filled with their children, grandchildren, great-grand children, and countless other friends and family members who loved Charles with their whole hearts. If Leana was his heart, music was his soul.
Charles had a deep love for playing the guitar, harmonica, and ukulele, picking out tunes and singing along. Whether sitting on his porch or gathered with family and friends, he could often be found with an instrument in his hands. The sound of his strings and the songs he loved will forever live in the memories of those who were lucky enough to listen.Charles also had a lifelong love of cars. He turned that passion into a remarkable career, working for Honda selling cars since 1977. He didn’t just sell cars, he built relationships. He never met a stranger and it seemed like everywhere he went, he ran into someone he knew. Time spent with Charles meant you would leave smiling. He found joy in life’s simple pleasures: sitting on his porch, taking road trips and car rides, enjoying sweet treats (especially popsicles), and watching his favorite music videos.Charles, or as his loved ones knew him as Chuck, Dad, and Pappaw, will be remembered for his devotion to his wife, the music that filled his hands and heart, the laughter he sparked in others, and that unforgettable smile he carried with him everywhere he went. His life was a beautiful melody of love and joy, and his memory will continue to play on in all who knew him.
Charles is preceded in death by his father Charles Perciful, mother Hazel Anthony Sweeney, and brother William Perciful.
Charles is dearly missed by his wife Leana Perciful, daughters Cheri Curtis and Crystal (Joe) Foster, son Charles Perciful III, brother Rudy (Leanne) Perciful, granddaughters Taylor (Em) Mount-Tidwell, Rori Swaggerty, and Mollie (Jon) Wortman, grandsons Samuel (Whitney) Curtis, Phillip Curtis, Connor Foster, and Silas Foster, as well as many great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
