Charles Patrick Mitchell

Charles Patrick Mitchell, age 61, passed away on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, following a long and courageous battle with cancer. Though his earthly journey has ended, his family takes comfort in knowing he has gone home to be with his Lord and Savior, where he is now at peace and free from suffering.

Charles was of Baptist faith and a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church in Halls. He retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad as a signal maintainer after nearly 35 years of service.

Charles was preceded in death by his father, Richard Polk Mitchell Sr.

He leaves behind his loving mother Ima “Judy” Mitchell; his sister, Lisa Rigdon; his brother, Richie (Sherry) Mitchell. He is also survived by his nephews, Jeremy, Josh and Shane Mase and his nieces, Wendi Ramsey and Amelia Rigdon.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 11, 2026 from 4:00pm-6:00pm at Mynatt Funeral Home, Halls Chapel with a Funeral service to follow, with Rev. Mike Lee officiating. Family and friends will meet at Lynnhurst Cemetery on Monday, October 12, 2026 at 10:45am for an 11:00am Graveside service.
