Charles Howard Burchfield, Sr.

Charles Howard Burchfield, Sr., age 79, of Knoxville, TN, passed away on Monday, July 20, 2026. He attended the New Salem Baptist Church, where the pastor and members of Salem were always so friendly and welcoming. A special friend there, Brother David Collins, was always checking on him and a special thank you for his prayers and kindness.

Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva A. Burchfield; son, Dale Burchfield; parents, Samuel and Elizabeth Burchfield; brother, Roy Burchfield; sister, Birdell Hill, Lula Mae Jackson, Veron McCall, Grace Beeler, and Mary Effler.

He is survived by his children, Pamela B. Cummings (Mike Cummings), Charles Burchfield, Jr., and Angela Burchfield-Foster; grandchildren, Landon Todd Foster, Amanda Smith (Emilee, Josh, Halen), and Hope Nevius (Josh, Destinee), Kinzleigh and Cruze, and stepdaughter, Krista Cummings.

Family will receive friends on Friday, July 24, 2026, from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Mynatt Funeral Home, Halls Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 PM, with Reverend James Dunn officiating and Jerry Kennedy will be the guest speaker.  Saturday, July 25, 2026, family and friends will meet at 10:45 at Fort Sumter Community Cemetery, (4828 Salem Church Road, Knoxville, TN 37938) for an 11:00 AM graveside service, with Brother David Collins officiating.
