Charles Robert Buckner, Sr.

Charles Robert Buckner, age 82 of Corryton, TN passed away June 13, 2024 after a battle with lung cancer. Charlie grew up in Sharp's Chapel, TN. Later moving to Corryton and graduating from Gibbs high school in 1960 soon after finishing school, he enlisted into the U.S. Army. Where he proudly served for fourteen years through the Vietnam War. After leaving the army in 1973 he began working for the city of Knoxville, retiring in 2005. Charlie Had 3 children. He was very proud of. He was a dedicated husband, loving father and grandfather. Charlie was a proud veteran as well as a proud member of the American Legion, the Tennessee Republican party, N.R.A, VFW and many more. He enjoyed spending time with his family going to Texas Roadhouse. Late night porch sitting during a good storm, going fishing on "Judy Ann" and spoiling his dogs as much as possible. Charles Buckner was the prime example of what every man should be like. He will be forever missed. He is preceded in death by his mother and father Ralph and Geneva (Eastridge) Buckner and sister Mary Margaret Crawford. He survived by his wife Judy Goans Buckner, sister Donna Crawford, brother Buster Buckner, daughter Geneva Blurton, son Charles Buckner Jr., son Joe Buckner, step son Jerry Inman, grandchildren Heather, Nicole, Brian, Alexis, April, Joe Jr., Shawn Nowlan, Jason Inman, Matthew Inman.  The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 26, 2024, from 5:00-7:00 pm at Mynatt Funeral Home, Halls Chapel, immediately followed by a 7:00 pm funeral service officiated by Rev. Jerry Crawford. Family and friends will meet Thursday, June 27, 2024, at 1:45 pm at East TN State Veterans Cemetery (John Sevier Hwy) for a 2:00 pm interment. Nephews will be serving as pallbearers.
