Charlayne Underwood, a lifelong resident of Knoxville, Tennessee, was born on January 27, 1948, and passed away on April 17, 2026. After a long and courageous battle with illness, Charlayne entered into eternal peace, surrounded by God's grace and love. Charlayne devoted many years of her professional life to the Tennessee Press Association, where she was known for her dedication, reliability, and strong work ethic. Beyond her career, her greatest calling was being a mother, grandmother, and a faithful servant of the Lord. Her life was marked by perseverance, faith, and quiet strength. Through seasons of hardship and declining health, Charlayne never lost her dignity or her hope. She faced her illness with courage and grace, trusting that the Lord would carry her home when her race was complete. Today, her family finds comfort in knowing she is healed, at rest, and rejoicing in heaven. Charlayne is survived by her loving family: her brother, Billy Franks; her sons, Brandon Galyon and Justin Galyon; her daughter, Tracy Franks; and her beloved grandchildren, Eryn Galyon and Ericka Galyon. Through marriage, Charlayne was also blessed with an extended family and embraced the cherished role of Nana, a title she carried with great love and pride. She was preceded in death by those who went before her and now rejoins them in God's eternal presence.
