Carol Anne Carey

July 25, 1946 — November 9, 2022

Carol Ann Carey passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2022. Carol was born in Peekskill, New York on July 25th, 1946. She grew up in Croton-on-Hudson. She was the daughter of Martin and Revea Griff. Carol was married to Michael Carey of Crotonville, New York. She was a devoted wife and mother as Michael served our country for 30 years in the United States Army. She was heavily into volunteering and also received a medal for her acts of service for the military community. She loved traveling, reading, quilting and working in her yard cultivating her flowers, plants, and trees. After Carol retired from Newport News Schools, she moved to Knoxville Tennessee to be closer to her sons. This allowed her to spend more time with her grandchildren. She spent countless hours entertaining and playing board games with all her grandchildren. She was predeceased by: her husband Michael Carey, her parents Martin and Revea Griff, her brother William Griff, and sister Arlene Griff. Carol is survived by her children Julie, Mark, Michael, and Jennifer; 15 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, two grand-dogs (Brady and Ducky), her beloved brother Marty Griff and sisters Joan Fetzko and Mary Lynch. She is also survived by several of her brother in-laws, sister in-laws, nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank and express their gratitude for the wonderful staff at Islands Home Park Health and Rehab facilities and The Pointe at Life Springs who helped care for and support Carol. In lieu of flowers contributions to the Parkinson’s Foundation or the Dementia Society of America would be appreciated. Carol will be buried with her husband Michael in Arlington National Cemetery. Arrangements have not yet been completed. Condolences can be left for the family at www.mynattfh.com
