Calvin A. Proffitt III

Calvin A. Proffitt III, age 75 of Knoxville, passed away August 3, 2025. He was a veteran of the Navy, serving in Search and Rescue from 1968-1972. Calvin worked in finance for much of his life, at one point becoming the CEO of a Fortune 500 company. He was a private person with a generous and loving heart. He loved his family, and took in his 15-year-old step-daughter and raised her as his own. Later, Calvin and his wife Tina raised 3 of their grandchildren as well. He will be remembered as a caring man and a great person. Preceded in death by parents Calvin, Jr. and Dortha Proffitt, brothers Larry and Bob Proffitt. Survived by wife of 20 years Tina Proffitt, daughter Amy Crane, son David Crane, daughter Christina Crane, grandchildren Isaiah Crane, Mariah Johnson, Xavier Crane, Zoey Crane, Kareed Lewis, Madison Parkhill, Axel Lewis, and Armani Lewis, sister Roberta Proffitt Lavin and husband Mike, special friends Lance Woods, Jack Plunket, Allen Estman, AJ Holst, Harold “Skip” Fredrick, Chris Yusof, and Chip. Family will receive friends 12:00-2:00pm Friday, August 8, 2025, at Mynatt Funeral Home, Fountain City Chapel with service to follow, Pastor Russell Porcella officiating.
