Buddy Jake Duncan

Buddy Jake Duncan age 89 of Corryton, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, August 9, 2025 surrounded by his loving family.  Buddy was born on September 18, 1935 to Marie and Jake Duncan of Anderson County, TN.  Buddy lived a life marked by service, dedication, and love for those around him.  He proudly served his country in the United States Navy aboard the U.S.S. Yorktown and the U.S.S. Little Rock.  Buddy was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Helen Wells and Bertha Curry, granddaughter Stephanie Massengill.  Buddy is survived by his son, Scott Massengill; daughters, Tawanna Cortez, Christina Duncan, and Emily (Tim) Ivey; sister, Sally (Dale) Atkins; dear friend and former wife, Shelia Duncan; and 14 grandchildren; Whitney (Derek) Sharp, Sara (Greg) McCarroll, Michael (Kayla) Mulryan, Matthew Strader, Ian Mulryan, Dylan Ford, Ashley Massengill, Maria Cortez, Zaydin Ivey, Zaylie Ivey, and Izaiah Seabolt and 12 great-grandchildren.  Buddy also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews, extended family members, and friends who will cherish his memory.  Buddy will be remembered for his warmth, humor, and unwavering love for his family and friends.  The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 14, 2025 at Mynatt Funeral Home, Fountain City Chapel followed by a 7:00 p.m. funeral service, Rev. Eddie Munsey officiating.  Family and friends will meet 9:00 a.m. Friday, August 15, 2025 at Mynatt Funeral Home, Fountain City Chapel to leave in procession for a 10:00 a.m. graveside service at Duncan Family Cemetery (Buddy's farm) 8125 Clapps Chapel Road Corryton, TN 37721 with full military honors provided by the Tri County Veterans Honor Guard.  Honorary Pallbearer; Tommy Holbert.
