Brenda Galyon Newton

Brenda Newton went to see our heavenly father December 17, 2025 at 5:45pm, at 84 years old. She left this world at the same hospital where she was born, Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville, Tn. 37918. Brenda was born July 3, 1941, a wartime baby. She graduated from Central High School and received her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Carson Newman College. Brenda started her career teaching in Atlanta in 1963. She met her husband, Don while living in Atlanta and they married in 1964. Brenda went on to teach in Columbia, SC, where she and Don adopted their first daughter. She ended her teaching career in Brunswick, Ga., after 35 years teaching 2nd, 5th and finally 3rd grade. Don and Brenda adopted 3 other girls after moving to Brunswick, GA. After retirement, Brenda and Don moved back to her childhood home, in Knoxville, TN. Brenda had a bright, positive personality. She was always bubbly and laughing, even in difficult times. She was a loving supportive mother and a friend to all. She loved Christmastime and family was everything to her. She loved her dogs, the Smoky Mountains, easy listening music and reading. Brenda will be sorely missed by her family and friends.

Brenda was proceeded in death by her husband Donald Newton, her parents, Earl and Marie Galyon, her sister and brother-in-law, Lloyd and Gay Cross, and her granddaughter, Elizabeth Gates. She is survived by her daughters, Katheryn Newton, of Arkansas, Michelle Newton, of Alabama, Joyce Beck, of Georgia and Donnell Lancaster (Shane), also of Georgia, as well as 11 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

No services will be conducted as she wished for a private Celebration of Life to be held with family and close friends.
