Bobby G. York (“Pappaw”), age 89, of Knoxville, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2026. He went home to be with the Lord after a brief battle with cancer.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Maxie York; his beloved wife, Dorothy June York; his daughter, Regina Weaver; and his sons-in-law, Eric Barnes and Donald Weaver.
He is survived by his children, Sherry Barnes and Jeff York; grandchildren, Russell Fielden (Annabelle), Jessica White, James Branch, and Dana Weaver; and great-grandchildren, Brianna, Carl, Isaac, and Izzy. He also cherished his special friend, Wanda Smith.
Bobby worked for over 20 years at Malcolm’s Dairy Land before becoming a self-employed exterminator. A hardworking man who did not retire until age 87, he was known for his love of conversation, coffee with his customers, and never meeting a stranger. He was truly a social butterfly, bringing joy and warmth to everyone he met. Bobby faithfully attended Grace Baptist Church in Karns. He will be deeply missed, but his family finds comfort in knowing he is at peace in heaven.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm Thursday, January 22, 2026 at Mynatt Funeral Home in Powell Chapel 2000 Powell Drive Powell, TN 37849 with a funeral service to follow at 7:00 pm. Family and friends will meet 10:30 am Friday, January 23, 2026 at Mynatt Funeral Home, Powell Chapel to leave in procession for an 11:00 am graveside service at Bells Campground Cemetery.
