Beverly Jean (Stump) Dunbar, 86, of Knoxville, Tennessee passed away on January 7, 2025. After a brave, but lengthy health battle, she is finally at peace.
Beverly was born December 15, 1938 in Akron, Ohio. She was the daughter of Beulah (Lewis) Stump, and Thomas E. Stump. Her family ran the popular Babe Maloy’s Drive-In during the 1950’s and 60’s on Chapman Hwy in Knoxville.
She graduated from East High School in 1957, then went on to the University of Tennessee for two years majoring in business and enjoying time as a Phi Mu before becoming a flight attendant for American Airlines.
Beverly married Darryl Dunbar on December 23, 1966 in Bryson City, NC. They were married 55 years before he passed on April 2, 2022. They had a wonderful life together. Beverly worked as an office manager, teacher, coach, and title coordinator, but her greatest accomplishments were as a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Beverly was kind, she was selfless. She had a knack for helping young people. She was trustworthy and giving. She especially loved playing golf, traveling, card games, word games, planning social events, music, and UT sports. But most of all, Beverly enjoyed spending time with her family and close friends, always on the go!
She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Beta Sigma Phi, and Beaver Brook Country Club.
Remaining to cherish Beverly’s memory is daughter, Deborah (Mike) Mauldin; Granddaughter, Kinsley Cox; great-grandchildren, Kapri Faith & Ezra Crue Chigano; Brother, Dave (Nedine) Stump; and a very special sisterhood of friends.
Beverly will be cremated and laid to rest with Darryl. A memorial service is planned for Friday, January 24 at 10:00 a.m. at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, 2200 E Governor John Sevier Hwy, Knoxville, TN 37920, with a reception at the family’s home immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Compassion in Action - a local non-profit helping cancer patients solely in East Tennessee - 3201 Chantilly Drive - Knoxville, TN 37917.
2 Corinthians 4:17-18 - For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
Beverly's heavenly body is free of disease. Free of pain.
