Harrell, Beulah Joretta (Sis) Antrican, age 91, passed away in Knoxville on October 26, 2026. Joretta was born on November 25, 1934, in Thorn Hill to John Emmit Antrican and Nina Byron Vaughn Antrican. Her parents passed away when she was very young, and her uncle William (Bill) Antrican and his wife Ruth Yount Antrican raised her.
At a young age, Joretta was saved during a revival service at Chinquapin Grove Missionary Baptist Church and was baptized.
Joretta met her future husband, Dallas Coyle Harrell, at a movie theater in Washburn, and on June 26, 1953, they were married in Powder Springs by her grandfather Rev. Roy Vaughn. Joretta and Dallas lived in the Halls community for approximately 70 years and raised their four children there. Dallas announced his calling to preach in 1955. Over the many years, she was by his side traveling with him to the churches he pastored and other churches where he preached.
She graduated from Hancock High School and National Business College and later on completed Knoxville Adult Business Education classes. At her first job, she worked as a bookkeeper in the business office for Cas Walker’s Cash Stores. She was a dedicated and tireless worker at her home and as an employee at her various public jobs, and she continued working at businesses for several years in the Knoxville area before retiring to babysit her grandchildren. Being an excellent cook and baker, she always provided daily home-cooked meals and desserts for her family. She was also a talented seamstress and for many years made most of her daughters’ dresses and other clothing for all her children. There were many other items she made utilizing her quilting, knitting and crocheting skills. She and Dallas enjoyed walking at the Fountain City Park and East Towne Mall, vacationing with family at Cumberland Falls State Park, and counting the deer while driving through Cades Cove.
Preceded in death by her parents, John and Nina Antrican; brother, Bruce John Antrican; special grandson, Sean Douglas Harrell; premature granddaughter, Danielle Michelle Roberts; foster parents, William and Ruth Antrican; step-mother, Ada Antrican Roberts; foster siblings, Majorie Lewis and Gerald Antrican.
