Betty Alice Black Wright, age 72, of Knoxville, Tennessee, was born on March 1, 1954, and passed away surrounded by family on April 19, 2016, after a long battle with COPD cancer.
Betty was everyone’s “Nana” and loved with her whole heart everyone she knew. She was a devoted wife of 39 years to her beloved husband, Pete Wright.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Matt and Pat Black; her brother; her sister-in-law, Josh and Lisa Black; and her grandson, PJ DeMarcus, along with many others. She is survived by her children: Tiffany DeMarcus (Tyler), Stacy, Misty, and Alisha (Brad), Shawn, Josh, Kevin; her brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Mary Black; and grandchildren Haley, Savannah, Samantha, Mathew, Chris, LaDonna, Shala, Ricky, Andrew, Colby, and John.
She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren: Aiden, Brylee, Shasta, Weston, Kyson, Kolton, Kaiden, Marley, Sierra, Haleea, Landon, Cheyenne and many more she considered her own. Betty had special friendships with Kathy Kieth of 67 years and Vicky Pippel of over 50 years.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Shalom Hospice for the care and compassion they showed to each of them.
