Betty Wormsley Longmire, age 93, of Knoxville, TN, joined her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in eternal life on July 2, 2026.
Born and raised in Caryville, TN, Betty faithfully attended First Baptist Church and was baptized in Cove Lake. She graduated from Jacksboro High School and the Tennessee School of Beauty, where she became an instructor. She later enjoyed a career in banking and retired from Home Federal Bank. Her most rewarding career was as Mimi to her grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years, Teddy Longmire of Jacksboro, TN; her parents, Tom and Ida Ridenour Wormsley; and her siblings, Anna Mae Smiddy, Emma Lee Price, John Morgan, Mary Ruth Whitus, Margaret Louise, Pauline, William Frank, Robert Don, and Sarah Katherine Locke.
She is survived by her daughters, Cecilia Gae Sharp (John) and Wendy Lea Buchheit (Jack); grandchildren, John Andrew Sharp, Wesley Hogan Buchheit (Megan), and Sophia Lea Silver (Daniel); and many beloved nieces and nephews. She is also remembered by special friends, including the late Alma McCloud, Rosalind Sharp, Diane Standifer, Nancy Conway, and Lisa Brannon.
Family and friends will gather at Halls Primitive Baptist Church, 7706 Quarry Road, Knoxville, TN 37938, at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2026 for a service, Elder Bill Berry officiating. Family and friends will meet 1:45 p.m. Thursday, July 9, 2026 at Bakers Forge Cemetery in LaFollette, TN, for a 2:00 p.m. graveside service. Pallbearers- John Sharp, Jack Buchheit, John Andrew Sharp, Wes Buchheit, Tim Sharp, and Daniel Silver. Honorary pallbearers- Robert Wormsley, Donnie Wormsley, David Wormsley, Jay Wormsley, and David Longmire.
The family extends special thanks to the loving caregivers at Morning Pointe Memory Care in Clinton, TN, and Shalom Hospice. Our beloved, beautiful mother, grandmother, and friend is now living peacefully in her eternal heavenly home.
