Betty Jo Hamilton

Betty Jo Hamilton, age 91 passed away October 7, 2025. She was born in Parrottsville, Tennessee to Brownlow and Grace Sams. She lived in Halls and was a long time member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church. Betty Jo taught school for 56 years, most of her career at Whittle Springs Middle school. She held weekly meetings for Teens for Christ Bible Club in her classroom. The prayer and Bible study she encouraged was a tremendous influence on her kids. Passionately committed to her family and friends. Betty Jo used her spunky personality to make new friends wherever she was. She LOVED eating candy sandwiches, going to SHONEY'S daily, eating ice cream and rearranging her furniture often. Preceded in death by her husband Don Hamilton, daughter Kippi Hamilton, and sister Dorothy Gregg, Betty Jo is survived by children Donna Peterson (Greg) and Jill Lawson (Greg). Also survived by grandchildren and great-grandchildren Brian Ellis, Ben Ellis, Caity Savage, Taylor Lawson, Baylor Lawson, Max Ellis, Lauren Gatlin, Jessica Ellis, Morgan Ellis, Skylar Ellis, Luke Ellis, Gray Ellis, Ivy Ellis, Wrenlee Gatlin, and Milo Gatlin. The family will receive friends at Beaver Dam Baptist Church from 3:00PM until 5:00PM Sunday, October 12, 2025 with funeral service to follow at 5:00PM, officiated by Dr. Alan Price. There will be a graveside service at Lynnhurst Cemetery at 11:00 AM Monday October 13, 2025. In lieu of flowers, donations may be Samaritans Purse, call
