In loving memory of Betty Lou Byrd, age 80, of Knoxville, Tennessee passed away on Wednesday, September 30, 2026.
Betty was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and a friend like no other. Her greatest joy in life was loving and caring for those around her.
She faithfully attended Sunny View Baptist Church; her faith was a very important part of her life. She had a very special way of making her children feel like they were rich, even though they were far from that. She taught them that the greatest treasures in life could not be bought, but it was the love family, and the laughter that filled the home and knowing that you had someone that would always be there for you. Betty may be gone from our side, but she will never be gone from our hearts. Her love lives on and her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and in every beautiful memory that she left with us behind.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Jackie Burt Byrd; son, Charles Kevin (Chuck) Byrd; parents, John Dayton Thompson and Etta Lee Thompson; sister, Cordina Lovina Spangler and brother, James Bruce Thompson.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Chaunta Dionne Chandler and son-in-law, Thomas Bryan Keith Chandler; grandchildren, Bethany Ann Underwood, Chancey Mark Underwood, Kirsten Mae Shelton, Brittany Nicole Chandler, Ember Rain Chandler, Wynnie Eliza Chandler and Jackson Bryan Keith Chandler, great-grandchildren, Chancey James Underwood, Nevaeh Anne Ward and Thomas Dwayne Ward; sister, Peggy Ann Nelson; sister-in-law, Norma Sue Thompson; and many others that she loved so very much!
The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 4, 2026, from 4:30-6:00 PM at Mynatt Funeral Home, Halls Chapel followed by a 6:00 PM worship service in honor of Betty's love for church, with Rev. Joe Norris officiating.
