Barry Lynn Collins, age 60, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, with his devoted wife, Lori, by his side. Barry courageously battled cancer for many years, facing each challenge with strength, determination, and grace—an enduring inspiration to all who knew him.
Born on November 19, 1964, to James and Marie Collins, Barry graduated from Anderson County High School in 1983 and went on to attend the University of Tennessee.
A proud veteran of the U.S. Army and National Guard, Barry continued his service to the country with a distinguished 37-year career at the Oak Ridge Protective Force (ORPF). He began as a Security Police Officer and was later promoted to Captain, leading teams through both routine duties and emergency operations. He went on to serve 13 years as a Major, overseeing daily security activities, and was ultimately promoted to Site Manager, holding the rank of Chief. In that role, he led all site security operations for 20 years. Barry retired in January 2025, leaving behind a legacy of leadership, dedication, and service.
Barry was a passionate sports fan who found great joy in supporting his sons, Wade and Will, throughout their years playing soccer and golf at Halls High School and Carson-Newman University. His love for his family and his faith guided his life. Most recently, he served as a deacon at The Church at Sterchi Hills, where he and Lori graciously hosted a cherished weekly small group in their home.
Barry is lovingly remembered by his wife of 36 years, Lori; his sons Wade (Kristina) and Will (Bethany); his brother Jerry (Dorothy); and his twin brother, Larry (Audrey). He is also survived by his in-laws, Robert and Linda Hackler; sister-in-law, Pam Bonee (Kenneth); brother-in-law, Rob Hackler (April); and many beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Marie; his brother, Jim; and his sisters, Lavern Perry and Linda Wilkerson.
