Barbara Ann Frye

Barbara Ann Frye, age 90, passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 29, 2023. Barbara attended Rule High School and was a devout member of Black Oak Heights Baptist Church for 52 years. Barbara was retired from the Kroger Company, having spent many years at the Kroger on Merchants Rd. She enjoyed traveling with the senior’s group at BOH and loved to dance. Barbara was an avid University of Tennessee athletics fan, particularly Vols Football. She enjoyed her time at Beehive Homes of Knoxville and the assistance of the wonderful staff for the last few years.

She was preceded in death by her son, David Alan Welch; husbands, John W. Frye, Edwin Martin and Leland S. Welch; parents, Charles and Callie Grant; sisters, Polly Grant Sharp and Eva Grant Lee; brother, Gary Grant; son-in-law, Robert Loftis.

She leaves behind her daughter, Nancy Loftis; grandchildren, Marty and Mikel (Brittney) Loftis; great grandchildren, Garrett and Abbigale Loftis and Avary Valentine; brother, Benny Grant; brother-in-law, Bill Lee; many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 3, 2023, at 3:00pm at Greenwood Cemetery with Rev. Randy Singleton officiating. In lieu of flowers, please donate to St. Jude’s Hospital in Barbara’s honor.
