Avanelle Hall Higgins

Avanelle Hall Higgins, age 82, of Powell, TN, passed away early March 27, 2023.

A graduate of Halls High School, Avanelle was a cheerleader and Valedictorian of her graduating class. A lifelong member of Sharon Baptist Church, she enjoyed serving in many capacities, but in recent years one of her greatest joys was the fellowship of her Sunday school class members and her teacher. She retired from Phillips Consumer Electronics Company in the late 90’s. An avid reader and excellent cook, she possessed a sharp wit with the ability to laugh at herself. She also thoroughly enjoyed all UT football and basketball games. She excelled at making life special for those she loved and her 2 fuzzy cats, Sally and Darla.

Preceded in death by parents, J. Elmer and Vetta (Lett) Hall; brother, Boyd Hall; beloved husband, Charles E. Higgins.

Survived by sisters, Mary Evelyn Bright and Elmarie Carter; daughter, Amy Swabe (Scott); son, Danny Higgins (Julie); grandchildren, Katie Heady (Kyler), Charles Swabe (Lauren), Jacob Higgins and Jackson Higgins; great grandchildren, Carsen, Kash, Adleigh, Kole and Abigail; many special nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at Sharon Baptist Church, from 5:00pm until time of funeral service at 7:00pm with Rev. Mark McCoig and Dr. James Robertson officiating. Family and friends will meet on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at 10:45am at Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery for an 11:00am graveside service. Honorary Pallbearers are the ladies of her Sunday School Class, "The Class of Ruth".

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes memorial contributions to the Sharon Baptist Church Building Fund.
