Austin Watson

Jun 4, 1939 — Aug 26, 2026

Knoxville, TN

Austin Watson, age 87, passed away August 26, 2026 surrounded by the love of the family that meant so much to him throughout his life. He was retired from Robertshaw Controls where he was an electrician and a member of Notchey Creek Baptist Church.  For 48 years, Austin shared his life with his wife, Ramona. Their marriage was one built through a lifetime of love, commitment, and companionship. Together, they created a home and family that Austin cherished deeply.  Austin was a devoted father to his daughter, Brooke, and his son, Brandon. He loved his children, took pride in the lives and families they built, and was always someone they could count on.  Perhaps no role brought him more joy than being a grandfather to Elise and Tripp. He was immensely proud of them and loved watching them grow, hearing about what they were doing, and simply spending time with them. He also adored his Grandog Koda.  You could often find them snuggled together on the couch. Austin enjoyed tennis, gardening, Tennessee football, and spending time in his workshop. But more than any hobby or pastime, he enjoyed being surrounded by the people he loved. Whether it was time with family or visiting with friends, Austin appreciated the simple things that made a life full.  He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.  Survived by: Wife, Ramona Wells Watson; Daughter, Brooke Rymer (Russell Rymer); Grandkids, Elise and Tripp Rymer; Son, Brandon Watson (Kirsten Watson); Son, Chris Watson; Sister, Marlene Watson (Danny Watson); Sister-in-law, Yvonne Roberts (Bob Roberts); Nephew, John Dalton (Karen Dalton); Nieces, Susan Bishop, Diana Blair McKinney, Kim Hodge (Ron Hodge), and Nicole Russell (Brian Russell).  Preceded in death by: Father, Joseph Singleton Watson; Mother, Willie Mae Watson; Sister, Jeanette Blair (Richard Blair); Brother, Wayne Watson (Wanda Watson); Sister, Josephine Chambers (Robbie Chambers).  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to NHC Healthcare of Knoxville Attn: Activities Department, 809 East Emerald Avenue, Knoxville, TN 37917.  Family will receive friends on Sunday, September 13, 2026, 2:00PM-3:30PM at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel, 4131 E. Emory Road, Knoxville, TN 37938.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.mynattfh.com
