Athena Danielle Owenby

Athena Danielle Owenby, age 23, of Greenback, TN passed away on September 17, 2026. Athena loved everyone. She had a heart of gold and a precious smile. She made a lasting memory in her home community, her school and her racing and running community. 

She is preceded in death by uncles Rex Owenby, Bobby Holder and Doyle Owenby, grandmother Pearl Owenby, aunts Aileen Tarkington and Tonya Helton and grandfathers James Sands, Melvin Owenby, James Jones and Luke Lawson. 

Athena is survived by parents Regina and Edwin Owenby, sister Jessica Stockton (Tony), brothers Trasea Woods (Becca) and Dean Woods (Tywanna), grandmothers Virginia Lawson and Lisa Graham, uncle Dewayne Birchfield, special friends John Halter, Erin Potterton, Stacy Cummings and Tim Rutherford, and special teachers Wes Caldwell, Penny Maisee and Ashley Flanagin. 

The family would like to thank Ainsley's Angels, Corryton running community, and all friends, family and teachers involved. 

Services will be held at a later date. 

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to Ainsley's Angels of East Tennessee.
