Arthur (Ott) Gamble, age 93 of Knoxville, passed away and entered into his heavenly home Thursday, December 21, 2023, at home surrounded by family. Arthur was a proud member of High Street Baptist Church and loved his church family very much. Arthur was born and raised in Pineville, KY. He worked as a timber logger and mechanic in the mountains of Kentucky. He logged in many areas and now those areas are the home of famous landmarks, Martin's Fork Lake, Red Bird, and Daniel Boone National Forest. After logging work in the area had ended, he came to Knoxville, TN looking for work. Not only did he find a job but also the love of his life. He was a skilled mechanic and often when parts were not available, he would handcraft his own parts to get things up and going again. He retired from Dixie Container Corporation after 30 years of employment. Retirement for him only meant a full-time job becoming the neighborhood small engine repair man. He was known as the Lawnmower Man. His hobbies included fixing things to help a neighbor or friend, flea marketing, countless hours of listening and recording gospel music and going to gospel singings. His most loved group, Gospel Harmony could always count on him to be in the audience with a smile and lifted hands. He was preceded in death by his wife he loved so dear, Mary Magdalene Gamble; parents, Lawrence and Italy Gamble; special grandparents, Frank and Nancy Gamble; daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Ernie Strange; brother, Arnold Gamble; sisters, Dorothy Simpson, Emey Jean Glenn, and Sudrey Hopkins. Survivors; son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Stephanie Gamble; cherished granddaughters, Shelby A. Batts (Logan) and Katelynn B. Gamble; special friend and companion, Linda Shelton; brother, Billy Gamble; sisters, Geraldine Lewis, Della Chester and Viola Pitts (Rod); several nieces and nephews; long time special friends and brothers in Christ, Harold Gene Cooper, Bobbie Dowling and Larry Byrge. The family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 26, 2023 at Piney Grove Baptist Church, 2109 Piney Grove Road, Knoxville followed by a 7:00 p.m. funeral service Rev. James Adkins and Rev. Frankie Phillips officiating. Family and friends will meet 1:45 p.m. Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at Coker Hill Cemetery (Tuckaleechee Primitive Baptist Church) 313 Wears Valley Road Townsend, TN for a 2:00 p.m. graveside service. Pallbearers; Logan Batts, Mark Mink, John Phillips, Frankie Phillips, Sammy Jones, Jesse Glenn, Adam Cate and John Sweet. Honorary Pallbearer; Harold Gene Cooper.
