Ada Carol Koho

Ada Carol Koho, 77, of Knoxville, TN passed from this life to the arms of the Lord and the angels on Monday, January 22, 2024. She was born in Elizabethton, TN to Robert Maurice Koho Sr. and Frances Orr Hendrickson Koho. She attended Staub Elementary, Tyson Junior High and graduated from West High School in 1964. She later moved to California where she received a B.A. in Social Ecology from the University of California and an M.S. in Marriage, Family and Child Counseling from San Diego State University. In 1989 Ada began teaching at Pellissippi State and continued her love of teaching and encouraging students until her retirement as an associate professor in 2008.

There was no one quite like Ada. She was a seeker all her life. She was deeply spiritual and passionate about many causes. She was particularly concerned with the underdog and underserved. She was a fiercely loyal and opinionated friend. She was a strong supporter of AA and NA. She dearly loved her Island Home neighborhood, flowers, the Smoky Mountains, and animals of all kinds, especially her cat Delilah. 

She is preceded in death by her parents Bob and Frances Koho: and cousin, Barbara (Shell) Cheek. She leaves behind her brother Robin Koho (Martha); nieces Regina (Landon Lackey) and Natalie Koho; and cousins Richard (Jen) and Caleb Lovette of Elizabethton. The family would like to thank the many friends, healthcare and service providers who have helped Ada through the years. Most recently Smoky Mtn. Hospice, CAC, Mobile Meals, and Westmoreland Health and Rehab. It was Ada's wish that a portion of her ashes be spread in the Smoky Mountains National Park. Arrangements are incomplete at this time. In lieu of flowers, please consider giving to support a charity or cause that moves your heart; make the world a better place; or just a simple act of kindness in Ada's memory.
